Benefits the Neighbors Food Pantry of Wonder Lake. Virginia is a volunteer for Wonder Lake Neighbors Food Pantry in Wonder Lake, IL. Every year for her birthday (April 21st) she coordinates a food and monetary drive for the food pantry. Virginia is turning 97 this year so she is striving to raise 9700 pounds of food donations for the pantry and striving to raise $9700.00 for the food pantry! Main Stay Therapeutic Riding Program’s Annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala will be held on Friday, May 6th from 6 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at Starlight in Harvard. This year’s event will feature Bluegrass music by the Georgia Rae Band, a Southern Fare Buffet, Silent and Live Auctions, Derby Hat Contest. Letter Carrier Food Drive on Saturday May 14th. Put nonperishable food in a bag by your mailbox, and your postal carrier will deliver the food to the local food pantry, Neighbors Food Pantry at Lutheran Nativity Church in Wonder Lake.

Volo Auto Museum opens its new snowmobile exhibit on Dec. 26. More than two dozen of the rarest sleds ever to soar across the snow will be featured, including a 1923 Ford Model T Snow Flyer, one of just 75 ever made. The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It features roughly 400 classic, antique, muscle and Hollywood cars. MCRide Dial-A-Ride is a curb-to-curb, demand-response public transit service available to McHenry County residents traveling within and between partner communities. Riders call the Pace Call Center 800-451-4599 to schedule a trip the day before they need a ride or up to seven days in advance for seniors and individuals with a disability. The fare is based on distance traveled: the general public pays a base fare of $2.00 for the first five miles and $0.25 for each additional mile; and seniors and individuals with a disability pay a base fare of $1.00 for the first five miles and $0.25 for each additional mile. MCRide service hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Detailed information on how to ride can be found in the rider’s guide (link is external).
